Alfie Pavey, recent re-signed for Maidstone United, having come through the youth ranks at Maidstone where he scored over 300 goals in a 3 year period returns aged 26 and the fans hope ready to fire them into a promotion battle. They also wouldn’t mind some of those 300 goals to resurface!
Since leaving Maidstone back in 2013 Alfie has made his name in and around the National league, becoming a reliable goal scorer for every club he has played for. With clearly an eye for a goal or two, I do feel that given another chance for a League One/Two side he would prove himself to be a valuable asset….let’s have a little deeper look behind why that may be…
Alfie Pavey
- 6ft 1″
- Striker
- 26 Years old
- 10 clubs to date
- 166 Career League appearances
- 43 League Goals

What is next?
So the 2017-2018 season was Alfie’s most productive to date and it is that form and production which will need to be rediscovered in order for a league side to take a gamble on a player that has yet to produce/play at a higher level. Whether or not that form can be recaptured seems to be down to if he can fully recover from a previous broken leg injury back 2019.
The here and now is that Maidstone are currently sitting in 9th place after just 12 games played, during those 12 games Alfie has played 7 times and scored two goals. Of course not massive figures as of yet but with Maidstone struggling in recent weeks, having drawn 1 and lost 4 of the last 5 matches, twinned with a lack of game time and the overall quality of service from his team mates, the return to Maidstone has not gone quite to plan for Alfie up to this point.
However, I recently spoke to Billy Owen a fan of Maidstone United, who gave this thoughts on Alfie:
“I think he’s a good lad, good for the dressing room. However for whatever reason he seems to be struggling. But I have faith in him and hope it works out”
Billy Owen (Maidstone United Fan)
It would seem that Alfie has both the backing of the fans and the talent to play at a higher level but, will his recovery from a serious leg injury mean that those heights can not be reached or does he simply need to get a run of games under his belt in a side that 1) Play him more and 2) Improve their overall performances/service as a team. Only time will tell, but keep an eye on Maidstone and Alfies progress this season to find out for certain!
